Asko Käpyaho

Head of Mineral Economy Solutions Unit, Geological Survey of Finland

Asko Käpyaho has over 20 years of work history in different fields of geology. Currently he is the Head of Mineral Economy Solutions Unit in Geological Survey of Finland (GTK). He holds a PhD in geology and mineralogy (2007). In his PhD he applied radiogenic isotopes and whole rock geochemical methods to study the evolution of the Archean bedrock of Eastern Finland. His work history and scientific career covers broad field of geosciences, including mineral exploration, scientific research on the evolution of the Fennoscandia Shield, mineral systems as well as science and innovation management. He also has worked as geologist in the company called Posiva, tasked with handling the final disposal of the spent nuclear fuel. In Posiva Asko was leading the rock suitability classification process. Asko is a member of the board of Mining Finland association.
