Gerald Byarugaba is a specialist in Extractive Industries with more than ten years’ experience working with local communities, influencing national governments, private sector and International Financial Institutions for good governance of minerals, oil, gas and land in Africa. He is currently Regional Advisor- Horn, East & Central Africa at Oxfam International, where he focuses on extractive industries, fiscal justice and a just energy transition. He has written book chapters, articles and blogs and spoken at international conferences on the subjects.

He is highly experienced in designing and managing impactful multi-country programmes in the non-for-profit sector. He is an economist, certified public policy analyst and Monitoring and Evaluation professional and has attended various prestigious fellowships.
