Since becoming BHP CEO at the beginning of 2020, the company has delivered improved underlying operational performance and sizeable cash returns to shareholders.
In the same period, BHP has also taken a number of important steps to reshape its portfolio and to better position the company for future growth. These include the the spinning out and merging of its petroleum business with Woodside to create a global top 10 independent energy company, the sale of a number of its coal assets, the sanctioning of a US$5.7 billion investment in the Jansen Stage 1 potash project in Canada, and the definition company’s Climate Transition Action Plan and the company’s Social Value Framework.
